The HP LP2065 is a 20-inch LCD monitor that has everything that is needed in a business monitor and is available at a reasonable $649. It offers a flexible stand, asset management software, four USB ports and some image calibration. The HP LP2065 is designed for office use and has a luxurious look.
A silver bezel runs along the top, sides and bottom and the cabinet and stand are matte black. Like most business monitors, it is fairly adjustable and the height can be adjusted by 5 inches. However, it is not easy to adjust and it is prone to wobble.
The FPD2185W can be pivoted from portrait to landscape mode and tilted 5 degrees forward and 30 degrees backward. It can also be swiveled 45 degrees to the left or right. A quick-release lever is provided to quickly remove the panel for arm or wall mounting.
The monitor has a master power switch, two digital inputs, a cable lock slot and a USB 2.0 hub with one upstream port and two downstream ports. Two digital-to-analog cables, two digital cables, and one USB cord are provided. There are two more downstream USB ports on the left side. The cable management system allows enough slack to pivot the panel and keeps the cords out of sight.
There are four big buttons in the control panel at the base of the bezel. The simple layout makes the onscreen layout easy to navigate. The onscreen menu provides the usual adjustment options, with a few extras. The red, green and blue color values can be adjusted. The number of the backlight and the total hours of usage can be checked and the colors can be calibrated.
You can install the HP Display Assistant Software and use the keyboard and mouse to adjust the white point, resolution, brightness and contrast. At its native resolution of 1,600 x 1,200, the monitor performs quite well. Colors are vivid and text is easy to read. However, at times the colors may look too dark and show a greenish tint.
Grayscales may also be dark and display a greenish tint. Screen uniformity is fair, but there may be some variations in brightness, in different parts of the screen.
With a quick 8ms pixel-response rate, the FPD2185W has a good DVD playback performance. The colors are vivid, flesh tones are accurate and images look sharp, though there may be a little noise and ghosting. Gaming performance is good, with sharp and colorful images.
The FPD2185W comes with a standard three-year limited warranty that includes the backlight. Technical support is available round the clock in both English and Spanish.
